Basic knowledge of common soft adhesive materials

Soft rubber material is the general name of soft materials, feel soft and mild, soft rubber materials are rubber and plastic, such as rubber, silicone rubber, TPU, TPE, soft PVC and so on.

The main properties of soft rubber products are: hardness, elasticity, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, cracking, coloring performance, high (low) temperature resistance, cost, processing technology, etc.  If used with daily products, baby products also need to pay attention to whether the material is harmful to talent, whether there is bad smell, feel comfortable and other factors.

Soft adhesive materials are widely used, which are common in our life as follows

1. The main material of the soft rubber sleeve in the medical industry is silica gel.

2, electronic products, mobile phone case, plug, sealing ring, cushion, etc.

3, toy figures, baby products, etc.

4. Adult products

We have introduced the characteristics of PVC before. Next, we will mainly introduce the characteristics of silica gel, rubber, TPU and TPE.

The silicone

1. Introduction to silica gel

2, silica gel is the main component of silicon dioxide, is a thermosetting elastomer, according to its nature and composition can be divided into organic silica gel and inorganic silica gel two categories, inorganic silica gel adsorption performance is high; Organosilicone is an organic silicon compound. Hardness can be adjusted, the first widely used in adult products, food products.

2, silica gel advantages

A, safe, non-toxic and tasteless

B, stable chemical properties

C. Good thermal stability

D. High mechanical strength

E, high adsorption performance, can be used as desiccant

F, the hardness is adjustable

3, silicone shortcomings

A. Poor mechanical properties such as tensile strength and tear strength

B. Poor resistance to strong alkali and hydrofluoric acid

4. Application scope of silica gel

Widely used in construction, electrical and electronic, textile, machinery, automobile, medicine and medical, chemical, metal and paint, adult supplies, baby supplies, etc.

rubber

1. Introduction to rubber

Rubber is divided into natural rubber and synthetic rubber. Natural rubber is made from rubber trees, rubber grass and other plants after extracting gum; Synthetic rubber is made by polymerization of various monomers. Rubber products are widely used in all aspects of industry or life. Silica gel is one of the specific varieties of rubber, is short for silicone rubber.

2, rubber advantages

A, elastic. It can produce large deformation under the action of small external force, and can be restored to original state after removing external force. B, it can be synthesized artificially, and the price is low. C, it has good physical and mechanical properties and chemical stability

D. Good oil resistance, water resistance, solvent resistance and high pressure oil resistance e. Good compressibility, wear resistance and elongation

3, rubber shortcomings

A, easy to aging.

B, poor radiation resistance

C, low temperature performance is poor

4, rubber application scope

Widely used in the manufacture of tires, rubber hose, tape, cable and other kinds of rubber products.

TPE

1. Introduction to TPE

TPE is a thermoplastic elastomer material. Thermoplastic means it can be recycled, it can be molded. TPE products have excellent coloration, environmental protection and non-toxic. It can be double injection molding, coated with PP, PE, PC, ABS and other matrix materials, and can also be formed separately.

2. Advantages of TPE

, safe non-toxic, b, wide range of hardness, c, has excellent color, feel soft, weather resistance, fatigue resistance and temperature tolerance, the processing performance is superior, without vulcanization, machining efficiency is higher than rubber, can be recycled to reduce costs, either the secondary injection molding, and PP, PE, PC, PS, ABS, such as matrix materials coated adhesive, also can separate molding.

3. Disadvantages of TPE

A, TPE heat resistance is not as good as rubber, with the temperature rises and the physical property decreases greatly, so the scope of application is limited. B, compression deformation, resilience, durability of the same rubber is relatively poor, the price is often higher than the same rubber.

4. Application scope of TPE

All kinds of optical cable, cable, car sealing strip, steering wheel, bumper, brake tubing, cushion, coating, modified asphalt, plastic modification, bottle caps, straws, rubber bands, condoms, used for manufacturing manual and power tools blood transfusion bags, syringes, infusion bags, gloves and so on.

TPU
1. Introduction to TPU

The Chinese name is thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer. TPU is a polymer material composed of diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) or toluene diisocyanate (TDI) and other diisocyanate molecules and macromolecular polyols, low molecular polyols (chain extender). TPU molding process has a variety of: injection molding, blow molding, compression, extrusion molding, etc., injection molding is the most common.

2. Advantages of TPU

A, wide range of hardness B, high mechanical strength C, outstanding cold resistance D, good processing performance E, good wear resistance, good toughness, strong tear resistance F, oil resistance, water resistance, mold resistance

3. Disadvantages of TPU

A, poor weather resistance

B. Poor compressibility

C, poor heat resistance and water

D, poor molding,

E. Higher cost than silica gel

F, softness is not as good as silica gel

4. Application scope of TPU

Commonly used in construction, electrical and electronic, textile, automobile, machinery, leather paper, medicine and medical treatment
